The Wide Churchill is one of the latest additions to the Romeo y Julieta Stable. The cigars exude smooth, subtle aromas that are the hallmark of the medium-flavoured Romeo y Julieta brand.

History of the Romeo y Julieta Wide Churchill Cigar

Named after William Shakespeare’s tragic lovers, the origins of R&J as a cigar brand date back to 1875. The brand rose to international fame during the early years of the 20th century under the direction of Don “Pepin” Fernandez, who was amongst the first to recognize the attraction of the cigar band. During his heyday, no less than 20,000 different bands were used in production.

Following the launch of the short Churchill in 2006, the slightly longer and much stouter Wide Churchill reflects the current fashion for heavy-ring gauge vitolas. 

Winston Churchill became a devotee of R&J. Since his visit to Havana in 1946, his name has been commemorated on a band and used to describe the marque’s most famous size – 7 inches x 47 – the Churchill.

Romeo y Julieta Wide Churchill Cigar Tasting Notes

Romeo y Julieta cigars feature a balanced blend of filler and binder leaves from the renowned Vuelta Abajo zone. While it shares a similar flavour profile with the original Churchill, the Wide Churchill is shorter and more robust, producing a generous amount of smoke with each draw. This cigar offers a harmonious combination of spicy, creamy, and earthy flavours, creating an aromatic yet light taste experience.

Throughout the smoke, a distinct leathery note remains constant, with a peppery twang that becomes more prominent towards the end, adding complexity.
